What days of the week can I start a course?

Courses can start any day of the week.

How can I obtain the VDWS license?

You can complete the courses and obtain an internationally valid VDWS license, allowing you to rent surf or kite equipment. The basis for the examination at the end of the course includes the study material and theoretical and practical instruction. The duration of the course for successful completion varies individually and depends on any prior knowledge. We recommend completing a full beginner course to acquire all necessary knowledge.

How old should children be to start windsurfing or kitesurfing?

We recommend an age of around 6 years for a windsurfing course. For the kitesurfing course, we recommend a weight of at least 30 kilograms. A trial lesson will provide clarity about individual suitability.

Which is better suited for children, windsurfing, or surfing?

Both disciplines are suitable for children. Windsurfing is generally more complex, with different materials and more learning content. Mallorca does not have suitable waves for surfing every day, but generally, there is an opportunity to surf every week. We recommend combining a windsurfing course with a surfing course, which we practice very successfully.

In which language are the courses conducted?

We at Water Sports Mallorca speak English, German, Spanish, and Catalan. Depending on the nationality of our instructors, we may also offer other languages such as Italian, French, Dutch, Polish, or Russian. This offering may vary each season.

When is there suitable wind for kitesurfing at Playa de Muro?

From early May to late October, there are good thermal winds with wind speeds between 10 and 18 knots from noon onwards. This wind is very consistent, without gusts, and decreases in the late afternoon. In May, June, July, and August, the probability of good wind for kitesurfing is 90%. In September and October, the probability decreases to 50% as storms are more frequent during these months. From November to April, moderate to strong winds from different directions can be expected regularly.
