Watersportsmallorca participated this year in the world’s largest indoor nautical fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. Boot this year celebrated its 49th edition, having a total of 250.000 visitors in this enchanting city of Germany from the 20th of January until the 28th of 2018.
Beach World
Through the German Federation School of Sail and Windsurf, the VDWS. We had a stand in position 8, named “Beach World”, where you could find an infinite amount of shops, brands and distributors of all classes of equipment, such as “wave”, a water installation that created waves to practice surf, and also a swimming pool for wakeboard and all types of “town in”.
Every year “ Beach World” is a reference point that attracts many types of sport fanatics and families that are looking for action and a place for their holidays near the water. Also remember that all activities within the Boot arena are free to all public, where you can try out Surf, SUP, Canoeing and sailing all indoors!
Myself, Marc Alvarez and windsurf instructor, Anna Glaser, represented our Watersportsmallorca school, we had a gratifying experience there. We were met by professionalism and friendliners at Boot and given a warm welcome in a handscape that at this time of the year is cold and grey by the side of the river Rin. We also made the most of this time to meet up with friends and clients who came to visit us and the fair.
Also unexpected surprises like well known clients who had heard we were participating this year in Boot.
GOAL ACHIEVED
We fulfilled our objective of having our sailing school known to an infinity number of people visiting our stand. From expert sailors who were amazed at the constant thermal winds we have in Playa de Muro to families who were considering whether or not to have holidays in Mallorca, deciding that Playa de Muro was an attractive family holiday and to practice watersports.
Many germans travel to Germany each year, and many promise to visit Playa de Muro to enjoy the sea in a different way.
We fulfilled our objective of having our sailing school known to an infinity number of people visiting our stand. We also made the most of this time to meet up with friends and clients who came to visit us and the fair.
The weekends are when the fair sees the most people, so the only moment to have a break from the stand, is during the week, moments when we are able to meet up with other representatives showing their equipment such as windsurf boards, foil, catamarans and accessories. Also participating in seminars from the VDWS about Kitesurf foil.
SURF LEGENDS
More over Anna and myself were fortunate enough to meet and talk to Windsurf and Kitesurf , Legends. Robby Naish, Björn Dunkerbeck, Airton Cozzolino…all adding glamour to the Boot, we took advantage of this meeting to get Robby Naish to sign a poster and to invite him to Mallorca, as he admitted he had never been.
Next year we will return to celebrate the 50th edition of Boot, it will be a very especial year.
THANKS
We appreciate everyone that made it possible for us to be there. Especially Anna Glaser who spent many hours on her feet accompanying me, to Tanja and Lilly de Dahkla Attitude our neighbouring stand who were so friendly. Irmgard and Gerd Hamman for hosting us in their marvelous house in Gerresheim, west Düsseldorf, and finally to Barbara and Volker Glaser for hosting an authentic birthday meal, and their robust dog “Volvo” who took us far walks everywhere!
To you all a big warm thankyou! See you next year in Boot 2019!
